Today marks the day I told my father in heavy detail what I think about him and how he affects my life. In terms of gifts. this year was a bit different. Instead of buying a regular card or other materialistic gift, I gave my father a handwritten letter of appreciation. Talk about personal touch! I think this gift is more treasured than a regular gift because it was really from the heart. My family had a special devotion for him, as we do on all father’s days in the past. After which we went to church with him. They had an unorganized little gift giving from ladies to men, it was obvious much planning did not go into buying the gifts based on what my father got, but the men seemed to enjoy it none the less and my father looked happy. He seemed to enjoy his day and for that I am glad. I have a great dad, so many people have absentee fathers, or have been abused by them or have fathers who abuse smoking and drinking habits. My father has done all he can to provide for us and he is a role-model, mentor and a friend.
